The Youth and Apprentice Council (JAV) at A. & C. Kosik GmbH supported a family in Hausen this year. Two sons suffer from a rare disease that has not yet been sufficiently researched. During their visit, the JAV representatives and Works Council Chairman Jürgen Berger gained a small glimpse into their daily lives. The cheerful children accepted the donation check in the amount of 1,000 euros with great joy. They will use the funds to travel to the Necker Children’s Hospital in Paris, where further research is being conducted. The money came from the auction of prizes organized by the JAV for the trainees’ Christmas party. The 44 trainees were very generous, which made it possible to present this impressive sum.

It has now become a tradition to invite our retirees to our company for their April get-together. Alexander Kosik and Wolfgang Schmid gave our former colleagues a tour of the facility and shared many updates with them. The tour also included a visit to our training workshop, where they got to see the new welding booths and exhaust systems. The event concluded with a light meal in the cafeteria.

The second training and career fair took place at the Kelheim shopping center. Our training manager, Florian Bayer, and two of our trainees, Jakob Triebswetter and Mario Schober, were also in attendance. They answered questions from numerous interested students and provided information about the trades we offer.

Lara visited us for this year’s Girls’ Day. After her training supervisor, Florian Bayer, explained a bit about our company, Lara got to try her hand at some hands-on work in the training workshop. While making a bottle opener, she gained insight into the basic tasks of metalworking trades. Lara then learned in our mechanical engineering department that the training goes beyond these basics. She was present during the final assembly of a cutting machine; the last individual parts were installed, and a test run was started.

On Shrove Tuesday, the Schäffler dancers performed again in the parking lot in front of our office building. They were accompanied by the Kelheim City Band and the Kasperln. The Schäffler have been a part of our county seat for 108 years and perform every seven years. All employees, residents, and Schäffler enthusiasts were invited to attend. After a light snack of sandwiches, doughnuts, and drinks, the Schäffler moved on to their next performance.

The 8th-grade students completed their fieldwork days at our company. Two groups each spent two days visiting our training workshop. Our apprentices showed them the basics of the trades, such as marking out, center punching, drilling, and sawing. As a memento, they created a steel version of the board game “Mensch ärgere dich nicht.” To conclude their technology project, the students toured our facility.

A. & C. KOSIK GmbH traditionally holds its company-wide meeting during the pre-Christmas season. This year, for the first time, employees were invited to the Dormero Hotel in Kelheim.In a festive atmosphere, Works Council Chairman Jürgen Berger and Managing Director Alexander Kosik welcomed the company’s staff and then provided an update on company developments. A highlight of the event was undoubtedly the recognition of long-serving employees. The Managing Director spoke about the career paths of those celebrating their anniversaries and thanked them for their dedication. Alexander Brack, Thomas Kirner,and Manuel Warsz were honored for 10 years of service. Sabine Frischeisen, Wolfgang Schäffler, and Hans Schmidl can look back on 25 years with Kosik. Stefan Landfried celebrated his 40th anniversary with the company this year.Special thanks were also extended to Werner Minor and Josef Singer, who both retired after nearly 45 years at Kosik. Works council chairmen Jürgen Berger and Wolfgang Schmid joined in the congratulations.

On the first day of the Kelheim district’s vocational training program, nearly 40 students took the opportunity to tour A. & C. Kosik GmbH and learn more about the company. Managing Director Alexander Kosik and Training Manager Florian Bayer guided the students in two groups and presented our training program. In our training workshop, the students got hands-on: Together with first-year apprentices, they cut an M8 external thread. After lunch in the cafeteria, Mr. Kosik gave the students a tour of the production halls and explained which products our company manufactures.

This year, A. & C. Kosik GmbH is donating 3,000 euros to the Jakob-Ihrler-Schule. Kosik has maintained close ties with the school for several years, as the company regularly offers young people the opportunity to participate in introductory internships. As a result, many students from the Jakob-Ihrler-Schule have found their way to Kosik. Managing Director Alexander Kosik invited the school principals and the teachers of the 8th and 9th grades to tour the company’s training workshop and presented the donation check to the principal. The money will be used to purchase a sound system for the school. Mayor Josef Häckl also made a point of attending the presentation and expressed his heartfelt thanks to Mr. Kosik.

Right at the start of the new training year, our trainees set off on a field trip to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site. Through the historic grounds and the preserved buildings, the young people were given an insight into the history of the concentration camp and its aftermath during a 2.5-hour guided tour. During a relaxed lunch get-together, the "new and returning" trainees had the chance to get to know each other even better. Afterward, they took the bus back to Kelheim.
